plant diseases

Plant diseases and insects are not about whether you are a professional in plant care or not. We should not forget that there are living creatures in their plants and we should intervene in such problems patiently and calmly. In this blog post, we would like to talk about common indoor plant diseases.

Flour Bits

They are lice covered with cotton-like white layers on the branches, under the leaves. It is easy to tackle as it is a slow moving breed. The method of getting rid of these lice without using pesticides is to clean the lice only with cotton dipped in alcohol. Excess alcohol can burn the leaves and should be used with caution. It can be diluted with water before using any alcohol (cologne, etc.) in the house. After the lice are cleaned, 2-3 times a week, a mixture of water and Arabian soap can be sprayed on the leaves of the plant with a fissure. (One cap of Arabian soap per liter of water will be enough.)

Red Spider

If the webs surrounding the plant have started to form on the tops of the leaves and around the plant, if the color of the leaves has faded, you may have encountered a red spider. These spiders are very difficult to see with the naked eye. You can take precautions by frequently ventilating the place where your plants stand, as it occurs in plants left in airless environments. Since it is a species that spreads easily, the infected plant should be removed from other plants. Apart from pesticides, homemade solutions do not show much effect on spider mites. You can get the appropriate medicine by explaining the disease from the authorities selling pesticides near you. Before using the medicine, be sure to be outdoors and do not forget to wear gloves and a mask. Before spraying, the plant must be given water.

aphids

It is one of the most common types of lice. Since it is a species that spreads very quickly, the infected plant should be removed from other plants immediately. If the number of lice is very few, the leaves can be washed with the help of a hose or by putting the plant in the shower, and then the Arabian soap solution we provide for mealy lice can be used. However, it may be necessary to use pesticides for more advanced lice attacks. It is a reproducible species, should be kept under observation.

Leaf fungi and molds

It appears on leaves as spotting and sticky droplets. You can start by getting rid of sick leaves. Fungi can be caused by too much humidity and poor ventilation. Try to reduce the water spray and ventilate the place where it is standing. Molds are usually carried to the plant by an insect that comes to the plant. Once you get rid of the insects, it will disappear into the mold.

Flying in the soil

Too much moisture and poor soil will lead to soil moisture flies and further mold growth. Do not water your plant more than necessary and ventilate the place where it stands. Make sure that the soil you use for indoor plants is a mixture of peat, soil and perlite to absorb excess moisture. If you are using a pot without holes, make sure to drain the bottom of the pot.

root rot

If your healthy plant has suddenly turned black and collapsed, you may have encountered root problems. It is a problem caused by over watering. It is necessary to change the soil and get rid of the rotten roots.
